Places I want to visit

I'm a Yorkshire boy, born and bred and you'll never get the Northern grit out of me. I was surprised to find out recently that one of my favorite sweet Liquorice is actually very much a Yorkshire thing makes me want to visit home and go check the Oldest Sweetshop in Britain.

The land of my Father

Dragon’s blood trees which grow for 300 years, on the Island of Socotra in Yemen and below a frankincense tree on Socotra’s northern coast.



New York Times story on Socotra. I will visit the island at the end of this year and take more photos. I wish I could be there right now. Thank god it's March and the winter blues are soon to be history.

Yemen gets props

It was amazing to see the New York Times do a major feature on my dad's home country at the end of 2007. Especially considering that at the same time last year they listed Yemen as the #1 adventure tourist destination. Made me sad that I didn't get to make my trip there this December as planned. December 2008 for sure.
