Finally someone has decided to put the sharp spotlight on Architect / Designer Eero Saarinen’s furniture. Knoll who produced much of his work have sponsored a exhibition that is now in Atlanta at the Museum of Design, 285 Peachtree Center Avenue (until May 5th). "The Furniture of Eero Saarinen: Designs for Everyday Living" is the first survey of his furniture including many designs which he created in collaboration with Florence Knoll. Of course much of this is still around with the Tulip Collection and Womb chair and others still produced today by KnollStudio. A monograph "The Furniture of Eero Saarinen" is scheduled for publication by Yale University Press this year. What is confusing is there is also another Saarinen exhibition on tour called "Shaping The Future" which will come to NYC in 2009. That show is said to contain never-before-seen sketches, working drawings, models, photographs, furnishings, films and other ephemera from various archives and private collections and it is also accompanied by a book though one which is more a survey of all his work.
